There’s something quietly exciting about a fresh sketchbook. That crisp first page. The anticipation. The slight pressure of starting again.
That’s where I find myself right now, not with a blank sketchbook, but with something bigger: a new venture built on decades of creative searching, sketching, overthinking, rethinking, failing, and learning.
For the past few years, I’ve been refining my own drawing practice through the study of many classical methods, slow, deliberate approaches rooted in observation, accuracy, and building confidence. And more and more, I’ve been asked:
“How did you make this progress?”
“How do you get past that constant feeling of not being good enough?”
“Can I show you a drawing and get your honest thoughts?”
The truth is, I spent years going in circles, books, videos, sketching on my own, trying to find a system that worked. Always the student, never the artist. When I finally started applying the principles used by 19th-century ateliers (like Bargue and Gérôme), things changed. Not overnight. Then I was introduced to the methods taught by the Ecole des Beaux-Arts at the turn of the last century, think of John Singer Sargent. Things changed steadily, but with a lot more joy.
So now, I’m building something to share that journey.
Introducing: The Drawing Academy Membership (Coming Soon)
This isn’t a big course or polished product with hundreds of lessons.
It’s something simpler, more human:
A small, focused membership for artists who want to draw with more clarity, confidence, and consistency. Whether you’re into figures, portraits, still life, or sketching, the goal is the same: to help you make progress without the overwhelm.
Think:
- Live draw-along sessions using clear, high-contrast reference images
- A monthly critique/Q&A to help you spot what’s working and what’s not
- A community of artists who are just like you, learning, trying, stuck, progressing
- Gentle accountability and a sense of direction you may be craving
But here’s the thing…
Before It Launches, I’m Inviting Founding Members
I want to build this with a small group of artists.
So before anything officially opens, I’m gathering a small list of people who might want to be Founding Members.
Founding Members will:
- Help shape the experience from day one
- Get access at a significantly reduced rate
- Be the first to try everything out
- Join a studio-like space where process matters more than perfection
Want to Hear More?
If you’re even slightly curious, I’d love to keep you in the loop.

“7 Proven Drawing Methods Every Artist Should Know”— a PDF explaining why no one-size-fits-all approach works — and how to build a method that fits you.
Final Thought
This isn’t about becoming a “perfect” draftsman or chasing likes online.
It’s about slowing down. Learning to see. And finding joy in the doing.
If that sounds like the kind of space you’ve been searching for, I hope you’ll join me.
You don’t need to be perfect. Just present. Let’s keep drawing together.
